Student Profile

Richard-Lam-Coventry

"We get to try lots of different areas of Art & Design, most of them at the University in the workshops and studios of Coventry’s School of Art & Design

I had studied a business foundation course at another university but during I knew business wasn’t for me. I found the details of the Art FoundationCampus on the internet and was attracted by the chance to try lots of different areas of Art and Design to help me decide what area to specialise in. On the Foundation programme I have already tried printmaking, woodwork, fashion and metalwork but I am still not sure what area I want to major in. I do know though that whichever degree I choose I am guaranteed a place when I successfully complete this programme."

Staff profile

Mary Bounds - Centre Head
FoundationCampus

"As one of the FoundationCampus Centre Heads I do a bit of everything which is how I like it.

I am responsible for the students’ welfare while they are here and we work very hard to make sure that students use their time here not only to improve themselves academically but to use this opportunity to learn more about themselves through interacting with others from diverse cultures.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is to see the students develop throughout their time with us.  It is great to see the students forming friendships and growing in confidence and I am confident they will be assets to the University."

Prior to joining FoundationCampus, Mary taught English in Egypt and Slovakia and work for the British Council in Turkey for nine years.
